The Conscious Closet x Yearly Co: NYC Event Recap
The Conscious Closet x Yearly Co: NYC Event Recap
I’m excited to share all the highlights from Yearly Co.’s joint event with Natalie Borton and Karla Reed, including where we stayed, what we ate, and all the behind-the-scenes moments from our "Conscious Closet" weekend. Below, a full recap of our NY trip.
Where We Stayed: The Moore Hotel
For our event weekend, we chose The Moore Hotel primarily for its convenient location near our Pop-Up at Bedford Studio in Chelsea. It offered a great price, was situated on a charming street, and was a clean, modern hotel. The only downside, a frequent reality in NYC, was the tiny rooms—ideal for a solo traveler but definitely tight for sharing. Normally, when I visit New York, I love staying at The Edition near the Flatiron or the Lotte Palace, but this was a nice switch from the norm!
What We Ate:
I love great food, and thankfully, so does my team! We mapped out our must-try spots for this trip and were rewarded with some of the best meals we've ever had.
Our first dinner was at Palma, an Italian restaurant I adore. Tucked into an 1820s carriage house, it boasts incredible food and a truly charming atmosphere. On Thursday, we hosted a dinner, organized by our PR firm, Birdie, continuing our series we've been calling "Strong Women Doing Cool Things." We've held these gatherings in LA and San Francisco, and they’re a fun way to connect with a new, interesting group of women, share the Yearly Co. story, and learn more about each other. We’ve made such great connections, which have led to pop-ups, collaborations, and events in new cities.
This time, we co-hosted the dinner with Leah from InKind Magazine. It was a truly wonderful evening where we shared the story behind Yearly Co. and heard about the attendees’ jobs, lives, interests, and recent obsessions.
These are the moments that fill me with total wonder and pride—that the business I started has led me to experience nights like these with such amazing people. Lucky me!
Before the hustle, we had to grab a classic NYC treat. Apollo Bagels makes THE BEST lox bagel. It’s strictly to-go, but the line moves fast. Take my advice: get the loaded lox on an everything toasted bagel and eat it across the street in the park—you can thank me later!
Day 1:
On our first pop-up day, we got to meet new customers, see old friends, and personally walk people through trying on bangles and finding their perfect fit. We were so happy to host this event alongside Natalie Borton and Karla Reed (Reed Vintage). We created the "Conscious Closet" concept for our three brands that weekend, unifying our shared philosophy of intentional shopping and helping women invest in timeless pieces they will love and cherish for a lifetime.
That evening, we had dinner at Bangkok Supper Club, which served delicious Thai food in a beautiful setting. We all commented on the unique flavors and left dinner incredibly satisfied with our choice.
Day 2:
Pop-Up Day 2 was another busy one. We all needed a few refills of our custom coffee and matcha drinks—ours was a "golden latte" with gold flakes on top! We wrapped up by 5 p.m. to relax at the hotel for a bit. (If you’ve ever worked retail or a pop-up for hours on end, you know how crucial it is to lay down with your feet up for at least an hour before heading out again.)
That night, we celebrated at La Sirène in SoHo, and it was absolutely fantastic. A classic French restaurant with immense charm and truly excellent food. We toasted with champagne to a successful event and finally enjoyed a solid night’s sleep.
Day 3:
Sunday was dedicated to shopping and walking. We made our way from our hotel down to SoHo, stopping for a Cha Cha Matcha on the way.
We stumbled across “145 Health Spa – Body Work and Foot Rub,” which is down a set of stairs and definitely does not give off "luxury massage" vibes. But it was SO GOOD! We got a 30-minute massage for just $30 and were back on our way to shop and brunch, feeling refreshed.
Next stop was all the fun luxury stores in SoHo. I love to peek into Chanel, Gucci, Loewe, Zimmermann, and all the shops in that area. We didn’t buy much, but just perusing the collections and seeing the beautiful retail setups is inspiring. We grabbed a quick lunch at Balthazar.
On our way back, we stopped by a vintage market and stumbled upon a fantastic shop with vintage luxury purses—one of my favorite things to add to my collection. Back to the hotel for another much-needed rest after racking up 20,000 steps, and then an Omakase dinner at Sushi Lin, which was small and more casual but served really great food.
Day 4:
On our final day, we met with our Diamond supplier in the jewelry district to look at special stones and discuss upcoming projects. We always find a few things we want to bring back "on memo" to show our customers options for custom work or to offer one-of-a-kind stones for special upcoming pieces. Looking at diamonds in New York is one of my favorite parts of the job!
If you’re ever interested in sourcing a stone (diamond or colored gemstone), we are happy to help you with a custom project—just DM, email us, or fill out this form. We do so many cool projects (and are working on sharing more of them!) and can start with an idea, an event you want to celebrate, a color, a budget—anything!
We had one more fantastic sushi lunch (probably the best tuna I've ever had in my life) and then swung by Mood Fabric Store on our walk back. I’ve always wanted to check out their selection, and the fabric is absolutely gorgeous. I didn't have a project in mind, so we just browsed this time.
I love the hustle and bustle of NYC, though I’m always ready to get home and rest after about three days. The energy, food, shopping, and sights are always inspiring, and I was so thankful to be there this October, especially thinking back to last year when I was recovering from my mastectomy surgery. Now, it’s back home for a few days before I’m off to LA!
What I Wore in NYC
I regularly share my outfits, bargain finds and investments on my Instagram. Follow along here if you’d like to see more! And never hesitate to DM me with a question or if you’re on the hunt for something, the only thing I love more than shopping for myself is shopping for someone else!
