My STORY
I grew up in Menlo Park, California as the youngest of four kids and came to Nashville to study Child Studies at Vanderbilt University. I met my husband, Pat, during my graduate program and got married in 2010, starting my first business (a drop in childcare) in Green Hills shortly after. I closed that business in 2013 right before welcoming our first daughter, Brennan, in 2013.
When I was pregnant with our second daughter, Regan, I decided to take a metalworking class to learn how to make a simple solid gold bangle. These bangles were given as anniversary gifts in my family, based on a tradition started by my grandparents. I transformed a tiny room in our home garage into a jewelry studio and, in 2016, Yearly Co. was born.
Yearly Co. grew organically while I spent most of my time as a mom to two under two. In 2019 the business outgrew my home office and studio and our team moved into our first rented space. By 2023 Yearly Co. had 20 employees occupying two buildings, a showroom in Green Hills, and a Headquarters on Music Row. We were busy renovating a retail space and adding on to our home when I was diagnosed with triple positive breast cancer in April of 2024, at the age of 37.
My world shifted on its axis as I stepped back from my role at Yearly and prepared for six rounds of chemo and a mastectomy. Fortunately, we had an amazing COO, Elizabeth Geny, who was ready to be promoted to CEO and lead the team and business while I focused on my health at home.
I looked for other women’s breast cancer stories to find hope that I would make it through and feel joy again after treatment. And as I shared my own emotional moments on Instagram, I felt the impact of letting others see what it really looked like to face cancer. The immense support I received was a gift, and the feeling of connecting with and helping other women diagnosed with breast cancer has encouraged me to continue to share.
I’ve created this site and community to be a guide, a support, and a resource. Whether you want to know more about starting a business from scratch, how to support a friend going through cancer, or you share my passion for heirloom quality things, and gratitude for the simple pleasures in life, I can’t wait to connect.
There’s so much power in community, and I’m so grateful you are here.
